Dry Eye Relief
The National Eye Institute estimates that 16 million people in the U.S. live with dry eye disease.
Dry eyes are caused by insufficient tear production and can sting, burn, or feel ‘gritty.’ We asked Dr. Toni Albrecht to recommend a soothing routine to make your eyes more comfortable.

1. Moist Heat
A moist, heated eye compress can help clear plugged oil glands in the lash line. This increases the production of the natural oils that lubricate the eyes to relieve discomfort.
Dr. Toni recommends using a Bruder Mask in the evening. Wash your hands, then warm the mask in the microwave—be sure to test the temperature! Place the warm compress over your closed eyes and relax for 10 minutes. It’s so soothing that you might just make it part of your bedtime routine!
2. Lid Massage
A gentle eyelid massage can stimulate the tiny glands in your lashes to produce more moisturizing oil. Wash your hands, then gently massage your closed eyelids in a circular motion for up to 30 seconds; repeat this several times.
Massaging the areas around your eyebrows and temples can help relax the muscles around your eyes to improve circulation.

3. Clean Your Lids
Dust, mites, pollen, makeup, and other micro irritants on your eyelids and lashes can cause dry or scratchy eyes.
Dr. Toni recommends Oust Demodex Lid Scrub. The cleanser pads are a convenient way to cleanse your eye area. Made with tea tree oil, these cleansers provide a deep clean while remaining gentle on the skin.
3. Deep Clean Your Lids
A gentle antimicrobial spray effectively kills 99.9% of bacteria without irritating or drying out your skin.
Dr. Toni recommends Avenova spray. In addition to eliminating bacteria on your eyelid, the antimicrobial ingredient in Avenova also helps wounds heal quicker, fights acne, and soothes inflammation; plus, it’s safe to use with lash extensions. (Remember the obsession with Windex in the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”? It’s kinda like that!)
